Ebony burnisher (7 pcs set)

This kit is very nice looking and I wish it was better, but the burnishers themselves are way off balance. When I use any of them to burnish an edge, the vibration is so bad and creates a choppy burnishing pattern on the leather because it’s bouncing around so much. The arbor/mandrel seems to be drilled in slightly off center which creates this whole problem. I’m hoping my set was just a one off problem and that these are usually perfectly centered with no vibration. But unfortunately due to this problem I will have to look elsewhere for a set like this.

I purchased this set of burnishes for my Dremel tool after lurking on the artisan leather supply website for a while. There are several tools that I would love to purchase, but since my current toolsets are working well, cannot justify purchasing a new tool, yet! I have been watching YouTube channels, to keep my learning of leather working constant, and I have always seen other leather crafters using mechanical burnishers. This is something I’ve never had a problem doing by hand, and always thought it was kind of silly. I injured my wrist in a mountain biking accident, and it made it Difficult to do my leather working, and the movement a burnishing by hand was painful. After purchasing the burnishing set, and using it, I have to say that I really enjoy the process. My edges were always super smooth, but never to that exact glasslike feel and appearance, but now I’m able to get that degree of finishing, in much less time than any of my hand burnishing. I’m glad I picked this set up. The stand that comes with this set is nice, and looks good on the workbench. Would recommend this product for others looking at something like this.
